Using sterile technique and ultrasound guidance a breast nodule can be further evaluated. The breast will be anesthetized and a needle will be inserted into the area of concern. Multiple samples will be taken of the nodule and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
What to expect during the procedure:
The patient may experience some pressure and or pain around the area of concern.
After the exam:
The patient will experience some bruising and a possible hematoma. The incision site will be secured with steri- strips that can be removed in the 4-5 days following the procedure. An ice pack will be given to the patient after the procedure to help with keep the swelling down.
